"Esta Constitución de 1999 es la que ha permitido a nuestra revolución bolivariana mantenerse en pie, a pesar de las sanciones de Estados Unidos, esta Constitución impulsada por nuestro comandante Hugo Chávez (expresidente, 1954-2013) está centrada en el pueblo", dijo a Sputnik Josefina Mijares, militante del gobernante Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV).
La movilización partió desde la plaza Sucre de Catia (oeste) hasta los predios del Palacio Federal Legislativo, donde la Asamblea Nacional Constituyente, creada en 2017, para la redacción de una nueva Carta Magna, ofreció una sesión especial.

Los asistentes a la movilización señalaron que respaldarán también la nueva Constitución que los legisladores se encuentran redactando.
"Estamos aquí para apoyar también esa nueva Constitución, que como lo ha dicho nuestro presidente Nicolás Maduro, servirá para profundizar nuestra revolución bolivariana", agregó Miguel Farías, miembro del PSUV.
La sesión estuvo encabezada por el presidente de la Constituyente Diosdado Cabello y acompañada por Maduro.
El 15 de diciembre de 1999 la población salió a las calles para votar a favor de la nueva Carta Magna, cuyo referéndum ganó el Gobierno con el 71% de los votos.
Esta Constitución representó un cambio de la Carta Magna creada en 1961, e incorporó, entre otras cosas, las estructuras de poder al Electoral y Ciudadano.
